When comes to weekends we have to crack our heads on where to go for luring ,Do you guys have the same problem? last saturday night all of us was invited by fishimanokbl to his hse for an Hari Raya dinner, so we decided to bring along our tackles to his place and discus where to go later on.Thanks for the great food fishmanokbl and Selamat Hari Raya. After the dinner all of us agree to go for a shot for the groupers hiding in the rocks with our new bought toys at a old forgotten spot. We hitted the fishing ground about 11.15pm the sea is calm with slow moving currents but the water level seems to be to low for the groupers to come by the rocks .
One of the female anlger's in our group spotted a school of squid swim passed us so she shouted ( HEy squid squid ) Once i heard the word squid i jumped up on my feet OMG i forgot to pack my squid jigs into my bag before i came out, but....... i'm lucky to have the one and only squid jigs in my bag that i did not unpack it from my previous trip. 5 of us started to squid but those squid are small in size on the surface best size as bait like those we used up in Tanjong Pinang, from my experience the bigger ones will be down under so i casted out far and let my jig sink all the way to the bottom working it up and down twitching searching for the bigger ones ,after my 5th cast the first squid was hooked up it was a mall ones but it is a good start this shows that they are in feeding mode, the squid jig i'm using was from technic size 3.0 colour orange. Technic squid jig are one of my all time fav weapon for squid they are cheap and good stuff i can say it out beat all the squid jigs on the this trip i alone landed a total of 6 squid before my jig was caught by the rocks. The biggest squid even give me some ink marks on my shirt. Well what to do that was my 1 and only squid jig i have after mr rock took it i might as well sit down and relax waiting for the tide to go higher. While we were waiting for the tide few of us used the freshy caught squid as bait killing some extra time, the lucky ones landed a small trevally and a Ang Zhor with the fresh cut squid.The zhor was released but the trevally were not so lucky the hook went in deep as you can see in the pic fish was bleeding like hell
soon the water level is high enough so we cliped on some deep diving lures in hope that we could catch something with it. One of the most effective ways of using a lure to target the grouper in the rocks is to go dive deep down under where the groupers are hiding using a deep diving lure . Diving lures are those you saw in tackle shops that has big and long bib sometimes you can even use it as a spoon to dig your chili tuna out from the can or eat your Nasi Lemak with it. We spend about an hour knocking every inch along the water breaker but it seem that the groupers are not home where could they went too i asked myself, Not a single fish landed lost 1 or 2 lures and that was not the worst, strong cold winds start to blow when i lift up my head for a look at the sky i can't see any stars all i could see was rain clouds covered our top i knew this is bad quickly asked everyone to pack up thier belongings and head for shelter. Mins later rain starts to fall 10 of us hiding under some trees around the area that was the best shelter we could find. Rain lasted for about an hour or so it stop right before the first light, all of us was so happy to see the rising sun as most of us are wet, hungry and tired after the long hours. HAHA we did bought some can food and roti along so after the rain all of us sit down at a warm area for our breakfast
After all the food and drinks we are fully power up for another round of search for fishes, the first fish to visit us was an small Spanish Flag caught by maria on a sinking vib bay blue we asked him on how he worked the lure and (he say i just let it sink to the bottom then i flip it up the fish take liao very kelong hahahaha) looks like the fsh are starting to bite after maria released the Spanish Flag on the other end another fish was landed it was a small cute grouper lol good news come 1 after another and it was maria again we was so surprise after seeing him landed a Beautiful Coral Trout right after the Spanish Flag on the same lure everyone feel happy for him too as after so many year finally he get to hook up another Coral Trout by lures again, after taking some nice photos fish was released to where it belongs
Have you seen anything like this before a fish that was almost the same size as your lure? heres 1 to show you guys caught by dreamer a tiny grouper grap his jig almost the same size as itself. HA where is my fish huh or maybe my luck used up last night for the squid liao lol last but not least sticko and his Maria Tight Slalom landed the last fish of the day his grouper deep throat the lure in
