We often see this on PE line packaging and on some rods and reels, e.g. PE 1~3, PE 3~6 (rods) or PE 1/200m, PE 2.5/200m , PE 5/300m (reels).... and so on.
So, what it mean?

Also, we may see these numbering on mono line packaging too. e.g. No. 2, No. 7 etc... On reels, No. 2/ 127m, No.3/110, No. 5/120m.... etc...
What it mean?

Of cause, many of you know.
But there are a handful of fellow anglers out there may still get very much mixed up by these numbering.

The table below will explain the relationship of PE number to its thickness and strength.

This form of measurement is a very accurate and standardized form and is especially used in relation to Japanese reels. The normal line thickness to line poundage would be 10lbs/PE or easily said, PE number X 10lbs; PE 5 = 50lbs. However, with the technological advancements nowadays, manufacturers have been able to produce thinner, stronger lines.

As for Mono numbering, similar to the PE's, indicate its standard diameter/thickness.

I do not have the table, but on the whole, every number approximately equal to 4Lbs.
As such, No1 about 4Lbs, No. 2 about 8Lbs, No. 2.5 about 10Lbs, No. 10 about 40Lbs and so on...

The rated strength of the mono varies a little among different manufacturers and brands. But basing on every 1 number equal to 4 Lbs is very safe.

Rubber rod rack

Recently decided to get a rod rack for my room as my rods are all over the place, but my room are small unable to fit those wooden rack. So i got myself those rubber rack that you can place it on the wall or your cabinet.

I got this from my work :) It comes in a pair, which can hold 6 rods. Total able to hold 12 rods but hmmm i think its not enuff for all my rods lol.

How to apply candle wax on your cork handle

Hi guys i'm back from my fishing trip , its a eye opening trip and learn quite a bit of things from this trip too. Will need quite a bit of time to prepare the post as there are so much things happening to us on this trip hahaha.

But first...

i promised someone on my shout box to post a video of how to apply wax on the cork handle, as he asked is there any other way to protect cork handle if cork sealant is not available. Yup there is and here you go bro ,a video for you guys.....

My first temensis

After ibr got his temensis on tuesday we made a return trip next day to the same place again, mondo and ibr came to pick me up in the morning and mondo will be heading to work straight after fishing. Normally if we are going to places that need to bash or need to stand in the water we will wear those PCK boots that is why sometime you will see us wearing PCK walking around in beach rd lol that morning he came with the PCK but forgot to bring his working shoes when he came out from his hse.

If he go back to take his shoes then it will be a bit late liao so i told him if you don't mind wearing a bigger size shoes i can borrow you mine hahaha , but surprisingly it was a nice fit hahaha.

Reach and start to fsih around 6.45am i was using the "tommy" Pencil walking the dog on the surface but seems like they are not interested in top water that morning, so i change to minnows and fast twitching it but still they are not taking. Same goes to the others ibr ,sh and mondo i guess they had try all kind of lure liao but also no takers.

So suddenly i had a tot in mind if normal PB goes for flies maybe the tememsis will fall for it too so i took out a surf candy (90mm) i tie recently.



Oh ya just to share how i use those flies, as you know flies are to light for us to cast if you are using spining or bc setups the only way is to add a split shots on your leader this is call spin fly. I'm using a 3.5g splitshot and clip it on my leader about 12-15cm away from the flies, positioning the splitshots affect the action when you work your flies so try cliping it at diff length and you will know what i meant kekeke.



Ok back to topic

After changing to the surf candy on my 5th cast immediately i had a take about 3 meter away from the bank. Set! fish on! not much line taken as i'm on high drag kekeke i just love the loud and huge splashes, sh quickly took out his grip when i pull the fish in and graped the fish up.

Yes! yes!..... finally my first temensis!.... and it weight a good 3.5kg!

I moved away from the group after i release the fish just to give more space for others to fish as the lobang are quite limited on space to cast. Moment later mondo came to look for me i was like WTH then i told him "don't come here this hole no good de i try before liao no takes at all one , go back to where i kena the fish that side better" Once i finish telling him that we heard SH shoutting kena kena and splashes lol see i told you mondo that side better hahaha. we ran over to see what sh hitted , wow it was another good size temensis. The fish ran left and right trying to dash into some structure along the bank lol hmmm actually the fish ran into the structure liao la but luckly sh was using rubbers, hook are not expose out side the mouth so lower the chance of snaging. sh manage to pull the fish out safely.

Mondo griped the fish up once the fish came in.

Fixing Holes on Floating lure

After being hitted by the Barracuda's Strong and powerful jaw and sharp teeth, your lures tend to get holes on it and when water gets into your lure it will not float anymore~~~ :(

Floating lure became sinking lure, this is something what i did to fix the floating lure.

First you have to locate the hole "suck it with mouth! lol" I'll just suck the water out from the hole asap before the thing start to rust or whatever.... oh ya wash the lure first la... lol

Or use something to poke the hole bigger untill its big enuff to insert the injection needles (if the holes are too small). Use the injection needles to suck the water out or if you had a empty daiwa-needlenose-reel-oiler it can also suck the water out from the lure

After draining out the water use sandpapper sand the surrounding a bit, drop a little drop of superglue over the hole wait for few sec than take a pcs of papper to spread glue to cover the hole.

If the hole is to big use tiny tiny.... pcs of tissue paper to block the hole up than drop the glue over it.

Wait for it to dry and sand it down with sandpaper. Apply 1 more final drop of superglue make sure the glue don't seap in, let it dry completely before you sand it again.

Sand down the small little Hump FLAT _________

Having problems on lures not swimming straightly?

That means you may need to tune your lures abit. Reason that cos it might be due to lure eyelet was bent from impact or the stress of fighting a fish etc.... Once the eyelet was bent or damage it might just swim either to the left or right and tend to surface out of the water at a speed.


How to tune your lure?

Tuning are simple by just using a pair of plier and bend the eyelet slowly



If the lure tracks LEFT, bend eyelet to the right.
If the lure tracks RIGHT, bend the eyelet to the left

re-test the lure each time until it swims straight. It's a matter of fine adjustments until alignment is achieved.

Rubber flies?

Last year went to sibu kelong with roger and a group of friends, roger got himself a chermin on a pcs of small rubber tie with some fly tying materials. Rig used was apollo rig, all he did was cast it out as far as possible and slow crank it back.





Had nothing to do at home so i did some cleaning up of my stuff and happen to found some small rubber shrimp in 1 of the tackle box.

LOL ended up this is what i did 20mins later







Maybe not tat easy to get a chermin but i think PB's might love them very much hahahaha.

His one of my sifu when i'm still a beginner into luring, his also a owner of an fishing forum many many years back ( Fishing Singapore ) but the forum has been closed down.

GT Knot

Squid jig weight adding with lead wire

When extra weight is required on a squid jig, when eging at a strong current or wanting to get the jig go deeper more quickly, try wrapping some lead wire around the front weight of a jig. It will help to increase the weight of the jig and sink faster.


You can find the above lead wire in one of the local tackle shops here. Few months back they were selling it at $2.40 per pack and was OFS for awhile. Finally the new stock are in but at a higher price this time at $3.80.


Actually you can also use the soldering wire that you can find at most of the hardware shops around you, basically i think they are the samething lol they serve the same purpose. From the help of ibr i got this tube of soldering wire for $2.









You can also use it for your rubbers , just cone it on your hooks.

simple way of tieing an assist hook for light jigging

Hello guys here i would like to share a simple way of tieing an assist hook for light jigging. It may not look nice but if you tie it properly you will be surprise what it can do for you.


Things you need



1. Hook
2. Assist line
3. Solid ring
4. Pliers
5. Scissor
6. Gloves
7. Super glue
8. Lighter


Below are some step by step photos to guide you along


First Snell the hook with Assist line using any method you know









After Snelling the hook make sure they are pulled tight with Pliers, Burn the end to form a small mushroom and drip a bit of Super glue on the knot to prevent knot slip


Now the solid ring, using the very simple half hitch knot to tie the solid ring

Adjust the length and put tight, do remember pull everything tight or else it will slip. Then drip a bit of Super glue on the knot to prevent knot slip
