Sandfly has found a new spot

I am not sleeping well last night all thanks to the sandflys bitesss on tuesday fishing trip. I woke up 3-4 times last night due to the itch OMG!!! i got 40 over bite all over my hands, legs and body.

I totally got no idea that the sandfly are around now and are not prepared, as for the past few years we have been visiting there for countless trips liao no sandfly was spotted at all, even on my most recent trip about 3 months ago there were no sandfly yet. I'm so sad now the itch was so strong that i felt it coming out from inside deeply. If you got beaten by them before you will know what i meant and how i feel now!

Just do not know why and how they get there lol from what i knew that i read from the internet quite sometime back the sandfly could not fly their way from place to place as they are to samll to fly that far. The only reason i can think of is the sandfly are brought there by human. The sandfly must have hidded in bags of anglers lol a free ride to their new playground. They can spread very fast it just takes 1 female to lay her eggs.

On top of it the trips sucks big time the only catch for about 8 hours was a kuku caught by me on diver.

It was a sad trip

Strike Pro Crankee Deep Diver 70

Got myself a few strike pro diver recently so tot of trying it out again after the trip with wenlong, its been quite a while i stop using deep divers becos as you know before the strike pro came in.

Divers in our market are so expensive lol compared to those i got few years back, like the rapala rattlin fat rap and daiwa TD CRANK SCOUTER F-G 1075. But my collection of those wonderful divers are getting lesser and lesser due to high snag rates. LOL i'm poor to use or buy the 20-30 over dollars deep divers as a hard working trip sometime can end up losing a few of them. Another reason for stopping using diver is also becos we had not much spot to use them.

Luckly now we have the Strike Pro Crankee Deep Diver ,they are one of the best diver around its cheap and good. I got mine in hotspot at $7.50 each but only a few colours are available and they are going fast.i guess many grouper lovers already have them stocked up in their lockers kekeke.

Model: Crankee Deep Diver 70 JL-037
Body Length: 7cm,2-3/4"
Weight: 21g,3/4oz
Hook-VMC: #4
Floating
Depth 3-5 meter

The lure produces an active motion even at slower speeds retrieving and good casting . The rattle system is loud and i find that rattle gives a higher rates of hitting the groupers. The finish on the Strike Pro lures are also quite well coated the paint won't chip off that easily compared to some of the japanese lures.

Oh ya i advice to change the VMC hooks to a better ones, seriously the given VMC hooks are not strong enuff

Deep Diving lures can be a great searching tools for groupers along the breakers if you know how too.

Last saturday night me ,sh and jarrett went for a fishing trip in the evening, when we reach the first location we bumped into 3 more anglers which is baiting at the same fishing ground. Oh man i saw a dead cat fish on the ground caught by them, i guess we bumped into some bad hearted anglers again. I took the dead cat fish and throw it back into the water, this way at least some other thing might eat it and won't put it into waste.

After setting up our stuff we started casting but nothing seems to be around it was a boring evening. one of the 3 anglers again caught a small puffer fish, the way she unhook the fish was like the fish killed her mother or father after unhooking the fish she KICK the fish like a football into the grass beside me.

I am so angry when i saw what she did to the fish, so i turn around took the fish and released back into the water. Moments later the ultimate happens again she caught another small puffer fish, guess what she did? this time she throw the fish back BUT...... BEFORE SHE DO SO SHE SLAM THE FISH ON THE GROUND KILLING IT FIRST BEFORE SHE THROW IT!!!

WTH...

i just do not understand why there are such poeple around if you don't want the fish you caught pls don't kill it, release it ALIVE pls.

The 3 anlgers leave the place at around 7pm i'm so glad that they leave the place lol

Sh got a nice mud crab on his storm rubber

Photobucket

And thats the only catch for the next 2 hours at this location, actually i'm waiting for the up coming tide for the next location i plan to go. so me, sh and jarrett went for some drinks and rest untill the water came up and moved over to the 2nd fishing location.

My target at this 2nd location will be the groupers so that i can try the strike pro Crankee Deep Diver at this nice looking breaker kekeke. On my first few cast hitting and digging the rocks along the breaker i got an small Baktao but did not manage to bring it up. LOL after that i almost lost my diver to the rocks , luckly it came out after some pull .

SH had a close take on his ima sasuke 120 but i don't know wth was he doing lol the fish got away within secs.

I'm so lucky after i got back my diver kekeke i had a nice 1.5kg tiger grouper but the fish looks really weird lor

LOL look at the photos and you will know what i meant

Morning walk

It has been awhile seen i woke up so early in the morning just to go fishing, ibr picked us up around 5.30am our main target to was toman. But i also packed some small lures and flies for peacock bass just in case we failed to find any tomans.

Hmmm we spend about 20mins of walking to reach the fishing location before first light and start casting out surface lures. but we could not see any sign of tomans around after about 45mins of casting. Mondo than decided to go for the peacock bass that are actively in front us.

Soon me and ibr join in the fun.

hmmm could not remember how much peacock bass we had , and only taken some photos of them, lol cos everyone is busy .

It's kinda fun today but it could be better if we are using light tackles, the PB's there are quite strong for the size.

Ok guys i'm going of to fish again bye......

Thailand airport scam

This news article came out today in the BBC News Website - Pac-Rim section (www.bbc.co.uk).

Someone posted it up in FK so tot of just sharing this with more people, Ibr you must read about this k.

The entire news article is below for your review.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8154497.stm

Tourists warned of Thailand airport scam.

Bangkok's showcase new international airport is no stranger to controversy.

Built between 2002 and 2006, under the governments of then-Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, the opening date was repeatedly delayed.

It has been dogged by allegations of corruption, as well as criticism of the design and poor quality of construction.

Then, at the end of last year, the airport was shut down for a week after being occupied by anti-government protesters.

Now new allegations have been made that a number of passengers are being detained every month in the duty free area on suspicion of shoplifting, and then held by the police until they pay large sums of money to buy their freedom.

That is what happened to Stephen Ingram and Xi Lin, two IT experts from Cambridge, as they were about to board their flight to London on the night of 25 April this year.

They had been browsing in the duty free shop at the airport, and were later approached by security guards, who twice asked to search their bags.

They were told a wallet had gone missing, and that Ms Lin had been seen on a security camera taking it out of the shop.

The company that owns the duty free shop, King Power, has since put the CCTV video on its website, which does appear to show her putting something in her bag. However the security guards found no wallet on either of them.

Despite that, they were both taken from the departure gate, back through immigration, and held in an airport police office. That is when their ordeal started to become frightening

"We were questioned in separate rooms," Mr Ingram said. "We felt really intimidated. They went through our bags and demanded that we tell them where the wallet was."

The two were then put in what Mr Ingram describes as a "hot, humid, smelly cell with graffiti and blood on the walls".

Mr Ingram managed to phone a Foreign Office helpline he found in a travel guide, and was told someone in the Bangkok embassy would try to help them.

The next morning the two were given an interpreter, a Sri Lankan national called Tony, who works part-time for the police.

They were taken by Tony to meet the local police commander - but, says Mr Ingram, for three hours all they discussed was how much money they would have to pay to get out

They were told the charge was very serious. If they did not pay, they would be transferred to the infamous Bangkok Hilton prison, and would have to wait two months for their case to be processed.

Mr Ingram says they wanted £7,500 ($12,250) - for that the police would try to get him back to the UK in time for his mother's funeral on 28 April.

But he could not arrange to get that much money transferred in time

Tony then took them to an ATM machine at the police station, and told Ms Lin to withdraw as much as she could from her own account - £600 - and Mr Ingram then withdrew the equivalent of £3,400 from his account.

This was apparently handed over to the police as "bail", and they were both made to sign a number of papers.

Later they were allowed to move to a squalid hotel within the airport perimeter, but their passports were held and they were warned not to leave or try to contact a lawyer or their embassy.

"I will be watching you," Tony told them, adding that they would have to stay there until the £7,500 was transferred into Tony's account.

On the Monday they managed to sneak out and get a taxi to Bangkok, and met an official at the British Embassy.

She gave the name of a Thai lawyer, and, says Mr Ingram, told them they were being subjected to a classic Thai scam called the "zig-zag".

Their lawyer urged them to expose Tony - but also warned them that if they fought the case it could take months, and they risked a long prison sentence.

After five days the money was transferred to Tony's account, and they were allowed to leave.

Mr Ingram had missed his mother's funeral, but at least they were given a court document stating that there was insufficient evidence against them, and no charge.

"It was a harrowing, stressful experience," he said.

The couple say they now want to take legal action to recover their money

The BBC has spoken to Tony and the regional police commander, Colonel Teeradej Phanuphan.

They both say Tony was merely helping the couple with translation, and raising bail to keep them out of prison.

Tony says about half the £7,500 was for bail, while the rest were "fees" for the bail, for his work, and for a lawyer he says he consulted on their behalf.

In theory, he says, they could try to get the bail portion refunded.

Colonel Teeradej says he will investigate any possible irregularities in their treatment. But he said any arrangement between the couple and Tony was a private affair, which did not involve the police.

Letters of complaint to the papers here in Thailand make it clear that passengers are regularly detained at the airport for alleged shoplifting, and then made to pay middlemen to win their freedom.

The Danish Embassy says one of its nationals was recently subjected to a very similar scam, and earlier this month an Irish scientist managed to flee Thailand with her husband and one year-old son after being arrested at the airport and accused of stealing an eyeliner worth around £17.

Tony told the BBC that so far this year he has "helped" about 150 foreigners in trouble with the police. He says sometimes he does it for no charge.

The British Embassy has also warned passengers at Bangkok Airport to take care not to move items around in the duty free shopping area before paying for them, as this could result in arrest and imprisonment.

Yesterday to salt and fresh

Yesterday morning jarrett call me after his RT saying wanted to go fish asked me to plan where to go, hmmm so i decided to try 1 of the old spot i knew. He came to pick me up in the afternoon about 12.30pm.

Weather don't really look good but both of us hack care we just wanted to fish and do some casting kekeke. Well.... when we reach the location my heart just droped on the beach lucky never roll into water lol. The water surface are so polluted with white colour thingy and the smell was so damn awful. The white colour waste water was discharged from a factory nearby, was wondering can they just discharge waste water like this pollutting the water. Anyway we started to fish but don't really feel that comfortable seeing the water condition in front us. so we moved away from it.

About 30mins later the dischargeing white in colour water turned into light brown in colour with creamy stuff on top of it. Both of us totally sick about it liao so we decided to call it a day lol.

Went to a kopi shop nearby for drinks and at the same time thinking where should we go since it was still so early. Jarrett suggested to go freshwater as few weeks back justin caught a good size toman somewhere kekeke .

And i remember roger need some haruan for medical soup. So ok la on la we go freshwater.

Along the way i saw a small longkang i asked jarrett to stop and try as it looks like a very good place for the haruan to hide or whatever la kekeke. Oh ya lol we have not much of freshwater lure with us as coming freshwater was a last min thingy. What i have was just some stillhunt rubber rigged weedless, that was the only weapon i had to target the haruan. Me and jarrett went down to the long kang started casting the rubbers into the weeds , lucky jarrett with his newly bought GL2 caught the first blood.

Photobucket

Photobucket

I call roger after photo taking asking him if he wants the fish, yup he wanted it and he was also on his way to aother spot with KJ aka fishy to hunt for haruan.

Hmmm sad lol after putting down the phone i went to wash the fish with my lip grip but the lip grip give way fish drop back into water .

SAD sad

Hai...

after that i had a few takes but no hook ups so we decided to slowly move in deeper . but but.... it was so sad to see this after so much of walking and flying over longkang to longkang

Photobucket

Boring lol so we call it a day after awhile of casting and went meet up with roger and KJ for kopi. Luckly they had 2 haruan for the medical soup.

Heavy Fine in singapore river due to fishing and lame reason for littering

Mins ago i saw this guy in FNR posted something about the singapore river, a friend of his kena fine by the PUB. The PUB gave him a $500 fine for fishing and a $1000 fine for littering! WTF littering! WHY littering sia

His friend asked

why littering fine gaven he was using lures and not baiting never littering also mah. Well the PUB replied him that when the lure break from his friend's line the lure would go into the water so its considered littering.

LOL i tot it was so fking lame LA

if lets say we are fishing at any other legal spot or shore line in singapore we had a very high chance of being fine for littering as well? everyone knew breaking of line while fishing is very normal if the GOV use this as a reason to fine ppl wow

Big money big money

you fishing only considered littering fine $1000

Its getting more and more lame liao

If its for real i feel so sad for him.

$1500 can go some other better place to fish sia

The spot that took almost any lure

Hahaha

The title sounds like it a very good spot right lol.

yup very good

The spot take any lure and never gonna let it go lol today 3 more lures added into ITS collection in the lure's Graveyard 1 maria angel kiss , 1 maria chase and a yo zuri crystal vibe. Total we had lost about $730 worth of lure at this lure sucking spot liao.

Damn sad lor

This morning when we reach spot ibr took out a lure that both me and mondo start to make fun of him saying that his not going to catch anything with it as the lure really had not much of action when you crank it and for some other reason la. Mondo even totally give up on it liao he hang it on his bag for display lol.

Before the fishes start bitting the sand flies enjoy themself on us lol i can see them flying in front my face some even landed on my cap.

OMG.....

Anyway don't care lol after spraying some insect repellent we began casting, i start with my fav 5 inch stillhunt as after lossing so much lures there. Rubber is a cheaper choice. Itchybutto mondo lost his crystal vibe after quite a number of cast lol why i say he itchy butt leh becos even shallow floating lure also can die liao crystal vibe sink so fast his sending the lure to his graveyard lor. after redoing his leader and using an L minnow he had a chase from a small size kim.

After about 1 hour of casting i had changed 3 diff colour stillhunt hai... nothing semms to be working. So i decided to change use hard lure, hmmm ibr is still using that lure that me and mondo make fun of him kekeke.

Sudenlly some baitfish in front of me start to jump and it looks like there are something below them so i immediately casted my maria chase over and start twitching it but no takes.....

Ibr also saw that so he retrieve his lure over to that area where the baitfish jumped and worked it.

"BANG"

The fish choose to take the lure that me and mondo make fun of it WTF ! hahaha

It was a small kim lol at that moment me and mondo was speechless only thing we can do was to help him bring the fish up for photos hahahaha.

Rod: Smith battle X Tiger BTK-65M 8-20lb (custom spinning)

After the kim was landed we spend another 2 hours there casting but fishes totally not bitting lor we knew they are around just do not know why they are not bitting heh... heh...

Oh ya almost forgot ibr got a small grouper on a 4 inch live impact so cut....
Photobucket

Photobucket

BTW ibr its not a tiger

I was so boring untill i foul hooked a small todak nearby .
maria angel kiss EX
Photobucket

Boring....

F la decided to change spot see if we are lucky to find any grouper over the other spot not, move move move.... lol it gets even more boring lor cos the grouper spot i knew seems like dead liao no fish sia.... but along the way we saw 2 dead cobia on the shore wondering what happen to them sia and where it came from...

My KTM resort trip

I'm back from the KTM resort trip last weekend, kinda sad about the fishing part. The fishing sucks big time anyway i was expecting that to happen lol as thomas went ktm few months back and i got some info from him liao.

but i like the stay it was very nice and releaxing, a very nice place to take a break from stress.

We are taking the 9.20am ferry at harbour front centre to batam. Few of us had our breakfast at a small stall at level 2. (food was a bit expensive lor)

Photobucket

Photobucket

We had some extra time so went down to smoke and happen to bump into a friend which is working there and he told us to check in early or else the Q will be very long kekeke.
Photobucket

After about 40mins we finally are in batam and the mini bus from KTM resort are waiting for us liao.

hmmm i don't think anyone will want to swim in that kinda water lor. lol if they open and made the lagoon for fishing i think they can make some money from there lol from anglers like us.

Feeding the fish in the lagoon is allowed and there is a stall selling fish pallet for visitor to feed the fish .
